Learning Track: Clinical Coordinators

Breakout Session 3 (1:55)

325 AB

Dysregulated Adults

Cultivating a Culture of Wellness and Community Care

This session will examine the ways in which dysregulation impacts everyday functioning, relationship building, teaching and learning. Special attention will be given to the ways in which ACES, historical trauma, technology, inequitable communities, and the national discourse affect the way adults show up to participate in educating kids. A key aspect of this session will be digging into the roots of relationships, including sharing proven strategies for connecting meaningfully, fostering regulation, and building resilience for our adult educators and in their classrooms. Participants will be given the opportunity to explore what lies within and outside their sphere of control/influence. Multi-tiered systems of support will be utilized as a framework for considering various interventions for adult wellness and community care and will include ways to bring these skills into the classroom and one’s teaching practice. After participating in this session, school staff will have a greater sense of how to cultivate their own care, as well as belonging, wellness, and connection in their school buildings with colleagues and students alike.
